Responsibility

We take the people of Hamburg with us

And not just on buses and trains. The list of projects with which HOCHBAHN will expand its subway network by around a third in the coming decades is long: U4 extension to Horner Geest, U3 stop Fuhlsbüttler Straße, the leap across the Elbe with the U4, and not to forget: the U5, Hamburg's new subway line that will run once across the entire city.

Finding the best solution for all together

Across the city also means right through the middle of the lives of many thousands of Hamburg residents. It's understandable that they want to have their say. And they know their neighborhood best anyway. Where should the stairs be, where should the elevators to the subway stop be located? What additional mobility services does the new stop need? HOCHBAHN planners have answers to these questions, but they can also learn a lot from local experts. It is worthwhile to exchange ideas and network with each other. Because in the end, the best solution is found for everyone.

A real success story that is already in operation: The Oldenfelde U1 stop is the first project in the extensive subway network expansion for which HOCHBAHN has involved the people for whom it is building the stop.

The important thing here is that HOCHBAHN involves citizens in the planning process at an early stage, usually immediately after the feasibility study has been completed. It provides transparent information on the status of planning, takes on board ideas and suggestions, examines them and explains what can and cannot be implemented. And is constantly in dialog with each other at eye level.

How does HOCHBAHN specifically involve local people?

How does this work? The representatives of the individual projects are present in the district and act as an interface between HOCHBAHN planners and local people. Digitally, a special HOCHBAHN website also offers the opportunity to get involved from the comfort of your own home. At schneller-durch-hamburg.de, there is extensive information, online dialogs in which ideas and suggestions can be placed, and the opportunity to get answers to questions.

HOCHBAHN is relying on the people of Hamburg to help it plan the expansion of its subway network. Together, the course is being set for an environmentally conscious, comfortable and barrier-free future for the next generations - for a Hamburg worth living and loving.
