CUSTOM is a European innovation project aimed at further developing the existing hvv Custom app. The app is designed to enable people with various disabilities to use buses, trains and ferries more independently and easily. Under the leadership of the Authority for Transport and Mobility Transition, HOCHBAHN is working together with vhh.mobility, S-Bahn Hamburg, HADAG, the Hamburg University of Technology and Dialogue Impact to develop new solutions. The aim is to create practical functions that really help in everyday life.
A key component is the active involvement of the target group: their wishes and requirements are incorporated directly into the app development process through workshops and tests. This allows the app to be improved step by step – for greater accessibility and mobility for all. The concept is intended to be transferable to other cities in Germany and Europe at a later date.
The project will run from October 2025 to March 2029 and is co-financed by the European Urban Initiative (EUI) with around €4.9 million from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
